How To Order

Thank you for your interest in commissioning a pet portrait.

Step 1:  I require multiple photos of your pet(s).

Option A:  I take the photos.

If you are local (in the Penticton, BC area), I can come to you and take multiple photos of your pet.  I am a skilled and experienced pet photographer and have many tricks up my sleeve that help capture a great expression.  This guarantees that I have the best photos to paint from.  The cost of this service is $50 and will take about an hour.

Option B:  I receive photos from you.

You can send me a selection of your favorite photos, preferably up to 6 high resolution shots.  Please note below the types of photos that assist in creating a superb portrait:

~ Photos that are in focus, especially the eyes.
~ No flash, please.  This bleaches out all the colors in the fur and creates large white reflections in the eyes.
~ Photos that have been taken in a shady area on a sunny day or taken in front of a window have the best lighting to show off the colours in the fur.
~ Photos that have been taken at eye level of your pet.

STEP 2:  Describe your pet(s).

I require a simple, brief description of your pet’s personality.  This helps me to tune into the essence of your pet and also influences the composition and the color choices of the portrait.

STEP 3:  Choose your canvas size.

A selection of canvas sizes and related prices are found on the pricing page.  Please note there is a minimum size requirement of a 9″ x 12″ for a multiple pet portrait.  If you have more than one pet, an option might be to commission one single square canvas painting per pet.  This is a fabulous modern way to display your menagerie, plus you can easily add to your collection if you add more pets to your family in the future.

STEP 4:  Arrange for a 50% deposit.
